Christopher Shin

Musical Theatre Performer, Choreographer, Teacher

Born and raised in Connecticut, Chris is a proud New Englander! He was an active participant in his high school drama club as well as an All State Orchestra and Chorus member. He studied voice, piano and violin at The Hartt School Community Division. After high school, he was accepted into the prestigious drama program at NYU's Tisch School of the Arts, studied Musical Theatre at CAP21 and received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree.

 

He has performed on Broadway in Mary Poppins where he was a part of the Closing Broadway Cast. He has worked at regional theatres around the country including: Goodspeed Opera House, Sacramento Music Circus, Maltz Jupiter Theatre, Arena Stage, Kansas City Starlight, Walnut Street Theatre, North Shore Music Theatre, Westport Country Playhouse, Ogunquit Playhouse, Arkansas Rep, Merry Go Round Playhouse and others. He has been Dance Captain and Assistant to choreographers Lori Leshner and Janine Molinari.

When Chris isn't performing, he is also teaching and choreographing. At San Diego State University, he has taught a wide range of classes as a Co-Instructor and Guest Teacher including Musical Theatre Performance, Musical Theatre History, and Voice and Movement.  He has also taught Theatre Dance as an Instructor on Record at SDSU and as an Adjunct Professor at Molloy/CAP21. He currently is a full time faculty member at Emerson College as Assistant Professor of Musical Theatre Choreography. His choreography credits include Zilker Theatre Company, TexArts, and East Stroudsburg University.

 

Chris recently graduated with his MFA in Musical Theatre from San Diego State University. He is a member of Actor's Equity and proud uncle to Micah and Owen!
